interesting info

Sarah 'Batgirl' Chaffee first picked up the cello at the age of five, and they have had an inseparable bond ever since. This is in part due to excellent teachers; she is proud to have studied with Hans Jørgen-Jensen, Peter Howard, Blake Brasch, and Amir Eldan, and to have earned her bachelor's degree in cello performance under Dr. Melissa Kraut at the Cleveland Institute of Music.

Since moving to Las Vegas, Sarah has become an in-demand performer and recording artist for many bands, artists, and projects. Most recently, she appeared with Celine Dion and Ryan Reynolds in the music video for Dion's hit single "Ashes," written for the soundtrack of blockbuster movie Deadpool 2. In the fall of 2017, she performed with SymphoLynn as the quartet-in-residence for  Grammy-winning singer-songwriter  Richard Marx's residency "Satisfied: Only The Hits" at the Flamingo Hotel. Sarah has performed several times on Univision for the Latin Grammy Awards, backing up internationally popular artists including Ricky Martin, Laura Pausini, and Reik. In 2014, she was a featured backup musician for legendary rock band Mötley Crüe at the iHeartRadio Music Festival, held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena and broadcast by Yahoo to millions of people worldwide. Sarah currently performs every Friday and Saturday night with David Perrico's Pop Strings Orchestra, a 14-piece ensemble whose repertoire includes everything from Bruno Mars and Michael Jackson to AC/DC and Journey in a nonstop dance band setting. The band is well into the second year of their residency at Cleopatra's Barge in Caesar's Palace, where they regularly pack the lounge with partiers to standing-room-only capacity. As a main feature of the show, Sarah performs standing-cello improvised rock and metal solos unlike anything the audience has seen before. Pop Strings is also a fixture at the Smith Center Cabaret Jazz room, where they regularly perform specialty shows in a wide range of genres.

Sarah's second passion is arranging music, and her string arrangements can be found on Sheet Music Plus under her own publishing label, Cellobat Charts (recordings of these can be found on Youtube). Playing in pit orchestras has also been one of her favorite pastimes, and she has been in the cello section for thirteen musical productions at both the school and professional levels. In her free time, Sarah enjoys petsitting and playing with the dogs and cats of literally every person she knows (shoutout to Lucy, Buddy, Sassy, Katana, Teenie, Elvis, Holly, other Buddy, Priscilla, etc. etc. etc...).

Sarah's conservatory training, combined with her multi-genre versatility, makes her an artist well-prepared for the future of music!

UNCONVENTIONAL CELLO ARTISTRY

From December 2011 to February 2018, Sarah served as the principal cellist of Phat Strad, Las Vegas's original female rock electric string quartet. As a member of Phat Strad, she played hundreds of shows across the Continental United States - as well as Italy, Mexico, Canada, and Hawaii - and opened for a vast array of celebrities including  Whoopi Goldberg, Kelly Clarkson, Jon Bon Jovi, Train, Gavin DeGraw, Robin Thicke, and Vanilla Ice.  Sarah and Phat Strad were featured performers for high-profile events including the Creative Arts Emmys Governors Ball, the Hyundai PGA Tournament of Champions, and the grand re-opening of the Golden Nugget Atlantic City; they also worked for prestigious clients including Porsche, eBay, Forbes, Lexus, Rolex, Neiman Marcus, the World Poker Tour, Hublot, Volkswagen, American Airlines, and Verizon. The group was also a local favorite for parties, conventions, and corporate events, performing at the Strip's major hotels and casinos (Venetian, Bellagio, Mandalay Bay, Mirage, Aria, Wynn, Luxor, MGM) plus some of Vegas's hottest clubs, including Tao and Tao Beach, Light, Hyde, Tryst, the Bank, Drais, and Tabu.

Other ongoing projects include the Zen String Girls, a unique singing-and-playing string trio of which Sarah is a founding member, and Reuel Live, an EDM and classical crossover collaboration with pianist Reuel Meditz and producer Jordan Kolar. Since Las Vegas is such a popular wedding destination, it's no surprise that Sarah also regularly performs for ceremonies, cocktails, and even proposals with Premiere Wedding and Event Music, one of the city's highest rated providers of acoustic strings. For over a year, Sarah also performed with Vegas headliner Frankie Moreno during his residency at the Stratosphere Hotel and Casino; she also performed with him and his band at the 2013 Hero Dog Awards, broadcast nationwide on the Hallmark Channel. Late at night, Sarah can be found guesting with the local scene's favorite metal cover band, Tinnitus, a side project of world-renowned band members from Blue Man Group.

As a recording artist, Sarah has contributed to a number of different projects. One favorite was the soundtrack for the indie film Popovich and the Voice of the Fabled American West, produced by Lightforge Studios filmmakers Mike and Jerry Thompson, which became a film festival critical favorite and audience choice award winner. Sarah can also be found on several studio albums, including symphonic black metal band  Abigail Williams' third studio album "Becoming"; Phat Strad's fourth studio album "Bittersweet"; EPs for Cleveland based steampunk/goth rock bands Queue Up and Vanity Crash; and Cleveland metal band Deadiron's debut album "Out of the Rust and Ruin."
